(definition) The term ‘ballroom dancing’ is derived from the word ball which in turn originates from the Latin word ballare which means ‘to dance’ (a ball-room being a large room specially designed for such dances) and has since its earliest recording in the 16th Century referred to social “partnered-coordinated” dancing. Because of its performance and entertainment aspects, ballroom dance is also widely enjoyed on stage, film, and television. In modern times encompasses the art as a Sport known as DanceSport There are numerous historical dances, local or national dances. Sequence dancing, in pairs or other formations, remains a popular style of ballroom dance.
Cooperatives: are typically based on the cooperative values of “self-help, self-responsibility, democracy and equality, equity and solidarity” and the seven cooperative principles: Voluntary and open membership * Democratic member control * Economic participation by members * Autonomy and independence * Education, training and information * Cooperation among cooperatives * Concern for community
