Ageless Program Penpals – Cross cultural inclusion

To join the current program…
- Check off the checklist details (backpage of the flip-flyer)
- If they suit you
- Fill in the quick form (bottom of screen ? look for PENPAL and fill that in)
- Post in your penpal envelope
- We are often asked about costs (see the requirements for stamps and postage)
- When a program involves a community that is in a 3rd world or has a large subsistence or poverty base.
The co-op culture-exchange pays for postage both ways. - FREIGHT and WEIGHT -Whilst we do not discourage any participation or contributions; to keep costs manageable we ask where possible to limit weight: eg – air mail envelopes, light weight writing paper etc all help to contribute to manage costs.
- Satchel weights are fixed (500g, 1kg,) whatever weight is under, we add a class or community item to make up the weight limit.
- It is very much appreciated – but not required- when participants can contribute to the shipping
(this is totally voluntary) and shipping costs are listed with each program – usually on the back page, and in the quick form) - ONGOING projects include collaborative mapping (we all add a section so the recipient group can pin up eg a Map from one country to the other)

Cross cultural programs include a wide range of benefits and are open to all.
Pen-pal programs have a tendency to be restricted to a class/school/teacher meaning alot of kids were missing out on this wonderful, simple opportunity to learn so much about “people” in the world around us.
The program combines the power of managed safety by community programs while allowing individuals from all over, regardless of circumstance to take part in an open engaging way.
